COACH

A volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the True North curriculum to program participants. A coach is able to commit to two 90-minute practices per week. New coaches must attend a coach training. At least one member of the coaching staff must have CPR training. All volunteers undergo a background check at no cost to them.

ASSISTANT COACH

A volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the True North curriculum to program participants. An assistant coach might not be able to commit to twice weekly practices, but does have the ability to deliver curriculum when present. At least one member of the coaching staff must be CPR certified. New assistant coaches must attend coach training. All volunteers undergo a background check at no cost to them.

JUNIOR COACH

A Junior Coach is a mature high schooler that assists the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches. A Junior Coach can commit to one or two practices a week. This is a volunteer position and a great opportunity for a teenager to gain valuable experience working with youth and serving as a mentor. Junior Coaches are able to earn service credit for organizations such as National Honor Society, Scouts, etc.

PRACTICE PARTNER

A practice partner is an adult age 18 years or older that serves as an extra set of eyes and ears at practice. A practice partner assists the coaching staff with all aspects of True North Running except for the presentation of curriculum.

HOST A TEAM

It's easy!

  1. Secure approval from your school administration to host a True North Running team.
  2. Complete a quick site application
  3. Identify at least three enthusiastic individuals to serve as your volunteer coaches. There’s a variety of coach types!
  4. All coaches receive comprehensive True North training and undergo a background check.
  5. Shout It From the Rooftops! Spread the word about the exciting new program throughout the school community. 
  6. Let the Boys Join! Open registration and welcome the next generation of True North runners!
